It is really sad to see the man I considered in the "Great" category reduced to a little better than pathetic. I talk of Joe Paterno of Penn State. He really has to be gone immediately as well as the University President and maybe a few others. It is really important in life to understand, that on your journey there are going to be defining moments, and how you act and react in and to those moments is what will define you. To have knowledge of the types of crime, even second, third or forth hand, and not follow through to a quick moral completion is beyond me. All of the officials at Penn State who had a glimmer of knowledge about this should be fired and arrested, their inaction provided Sandusky more opportunity to destroy these young peoples lives.
A friend of mine who is like a brother to me called me up yesterday and asked, "if I heard that he was having sex with little boys what would I do?" I responded, "first I would call the police and if they did not arrest you, I would take the matter into my own hands". "That's what I hoped you would say" he replied.
My mother a few years ago said if she ever found out any of her sons were molesting little kids she would cut us up and bury us in her back garden. I had never felt prouder of my mother!
Now when the child molestation accusations were revealed in the Catholic Church the entire organization was damned and called to task, even though it was less than 1% of the priesthood. Penn State represents about 1% of our elite education system here in the USA, should we hold the entire elite university system to the same level of damnation, should we call for the dissolving of the universities like those who called for the end of the entire Catholic Church? You might say that this is isolated and the Catholic Church situation was more widespread, but if it can be hidden at Penn State imagine how easy it wold be to hide it at other campuses?
Sandusky is truly an evil piece of human garbage to do what he did. There are enough men of age who he could have met on the internet to legally get off with. And to set up an organization to bring in these boys puts him on a level with the truly worst of the worst.
I think once this investigation gets to the bottom of things we are going to see more arrests and a state of shock will come over us as the depths of this nightmare unravel.
Take this as a lesson for all of us to hold your friends to higher standards, if they are or are willing to cross the line to these kinds of degree then you have to get the authorities involved or take it into your own hands and deal with it. I can't see how God would look at someone who made Sandusky suffer at the end of a knife after what he has done would be anything but welcome at the table. And if you do find someone so depraved in your own circle, then boy do you have some questions to ask yourself.
